GK: Our sound-effects man, Fred Newman, does our show as a hobby. His real line of work is training performing animals at his ranch in Bogalusa. Radio is only a hobby with Fred, his true love is animal performance ---- he believes that all species have a need to express feeling ----- even chickens (CHICKEN OPERA PZZICATO)--- and he doesn't train them to sing so much as he gives them permission to let their creativity out ---- also caribou (CARIBOU) ---- this animal in its wild state is terribly shy, and it's only when its in captivity that the caribou feels free to express itself ---- sort of an irony there---- (CARIBOU PASSACAGLIA) ----- Fred says, Let it out, caribou, just let it out. And this Pekinese (YIPS) ---- a kind of a high-pitched dog and Fred has given it vocal training to make it a baritone Chihauhua (BRANDENBURG) ---- and this sea lion (SFX) ---- this sea lion had aspirations it didn't even know about until Fred took it in hand and taught it to sing "Some Enchanted Evening" (SFX) while ringing a bell (SFX) ----- animals have a lot of untapped talent and Fred has found out how to bring that out ----- such as this humpback whale (SFX) whom Fred has taught to sing "When the Saints Go Marching In" ----- wouldn't this be an asset to New Orleans, a whale, living in a tank in the river, singing "When the Saints Go Marching In" and throwing beads with its flippers (SFX, WHALE SINGING)----- but we can't do it without your support. The Fred Newman Animal Music Camp depends on you for your support. Call now. Any contribution helps. And as a thank you to you, this tote bag.....with a singing cat inside it. (ST LOUIS WOMAN)
