GK: This was a big month for subatomic particle physics, with the discovery of the so-called "God particle," the Higgs boson, the particle that explains the existence of all matter in the universe. Very exciting to the subatomic particle physicists, to make the front page of the New York Times, and here is Dr. Erich Ullrich from the California Institute for particle physics to explain the significance of the discovery to us.

TR (GERMAN): (EXTENSIVE GERMAN EXPLANATION)

GK: So this is a small but crucial piece of the puzzle.

TR (GERMAN): FURTHER EXPLANATION

GK: Like the last sausage at a buffet supper.

TR (GERMAN): (MORE ANIMATED)

GK: So the particles in the accelerator collided.....

TR (GERMAN): (EXCITEDLY, TOWARD CLIMAX)

GK: And split into subatomic particles! And one of these was the...

TR (GERMAN): (PHILOSOPHICAL)
GK: And the significance of the particle is that it shows what?

TR (GERMAN): (PATIENT EXPLANATION)

GK: Nothing you can do that can't be done?

TR (GERMAN): (MORE EXPLANATION)

GK: Nothing you can know that isn't known. Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be

TR (GERMAN): Es ist ganz einfach.

GK: Es ist ganz einfach? It's easy?

TR (GERMAN): It's easy.

GK: If you understand subatomic particle physics.

TR (GERMAN): It's easy. Liebe ist alles was Sie brauchen.

GK: Okay. Whatever you say. It's easy. All you need is love.

TR (GERMAN): Ja! Ja! (FESTIVE GERMAN)

GK: All right. Dr. Erich Ullrich from the California Institute for particle physics, obviously very excited about this new finding. Thank you Dr. Ullrich. (TR GERMAN, OFF)
