It was a dry winter and then a wet spring
The fungus is growing like anything
The quack grass is quacking, creeping Charlie creeps
The hydrangeas are collapsing in heaps
It's hot and sunny and at noon the sun burns
The peonies, impatiens, and ferns
The irises don't care for the heat
The petunias are fainting on their feet.
So are the roses and the clematis vine
But here on the porch we are feeling just fine.
Sitting in the shade and drinking iced tea
And lemonade, my baby and me,
The flowers are fading, there's mold on the lawn,
But you and I we just go on and on.
