It's the week before it's Christmas
And I'm walking all around New York
Past the lighted windows of a thousand stores
I am looking for a sweater that is wool and is not black
I am looking for a DVD for two small boys
And a book that isn't scary that my daughter hasn't read
And the I see the tree,
And in just a week it will be Christmas once again.
It's the week before it's Christmas,
And the lights are shining in New York
And I walk down Broadway and up 43rd
And I stare into the faces of the passers-by
The children in their snowsuits hanging on to daddy's hand
The couples in the city from New Jersey and Dubuque
The old man reflected in the window
And in just a week it will be Christmas once again.
