Here we are O Lord
Here on the Jersey Shore,
And this is our simple prayer:
Hope you're there.
Don't want to ask too much,
Signs and miracles and such,
I just whisper in the air:
Please be there.
Please, Lord, please exist
Don't make me an atheist
This is my prayer:
Be there.
When I die like other folks
Don't want to learn that you're a hoax:
When I climb that stair
Be there.
Doesn't matter if the streets are gold,
Or if the weather's hot or cold,
Or the skies are fair,
Just be there.
Not asking for world peace,
An end to hunger and disease,
Or even health care,
Just be there.
And not just in the Milky Way
But down here in the USA
Or at least in this hemisphere
Be here.
Be here
Be here
Be here
Come by here, my Lord, come by here
Come by here, my Lord, come by here
Come by here, my Lord, come by here
O Lord, come by here
Someone praying, Lord
Someone singing, Lord
In New Jersey, Lord
Here's your Methodists,
Certain things I don't accept:
Death, for one.
