GK: Erica Rhodes is with us who has been named my replacement as host of A Prairie Home Companion. Congratulations. I'm sure you're going to do a terrific job.
ER: Thanks. I think I will, too.
GK: When do you start?
ER: We're in negotiations about that right now. My people are talking to the network -- they're still pretty far apart as far as money and the length of the contract and so on. Who my music director will be. Who my sidekick would be.
GK: So it's going to be a whole new show. (LONG PAUSE) I guess so, huh. New band? No news from Lake Wobegon?
ER: We're going in a different direction. The numbers just aren't there. They used to be there but they aren't there anymore.
ER: Men 18-35 earning more than a hundred grand a year. You're not pulling in those people.
GK: And you think you can.
ER: I know I can. I have ever since I was eighteen. (SUGGESTIVE POSE)
GK: Have you ever emceed a radio show before?
ER: No. Why?
GK: Just wondering. Well, if there's anything I can do to make it easier for you, don't hesitate to ask.
ER: I frankly don't think it's going to be that hard. We're thinking of adding a laugh track.
GK: Well, good luck to you.
ER: Thanks. And thanks for all the great memories of entertainment. All those years. Wow. I hope you'll keep in touch. Don't be a stranger. Write.
GK: You want me to write for your show???
ER: Write letters. Let us know what you're up to. Maybe you could come back as a guest sometime. If you get nostalgic.
GK: Well, thanks.
ER: And if there's a life time achievement award for radio, I think that you should definitely be considered.
GK: OKAY. ERICA RHODES, THE NEW HOST OF THE SHOW.......
