Garrison Squeallor

Meet Garrison Squeallor, the new 2007 mascot for the St. Paul Saints baseball team. "Garrison Keillor is a legend in this area and this is the highest honor the Saints could bestow upon him," said Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Derek Sharrer.
"I'm honored to have a pig named for me," said Keillor. "I love the story from a few years back about the opposing batter who came to the plate and saw the pig trotting up with the fresh balls in his pocket and the batter complained to the umpire." (a player from an opposing team was offended by the pig delivering baseballs to the umpire, turned and said, "That is so bush league," and the ump said, "This is the bush leagues.")
Garrison Squeallor was raised and chosen by Dennis and Marilyn Hauth, who have supplied all 15 mascots to the Saints. He is currently eating and and learning how to walk on a leash -- and eventually will be learning some tricks -- and no doubt looking forward in meeting his namesake!

A national holiday in Lake Wobegon is always gaudy and joyful. But what is going on between Clint Bunsen and Miss Liberty?
Everyone is here—Pastor Ingqvist, the Sons of Knute, Sister Arvonne of Our Lady of Perpetual Responsibility and her ocarina band, the Norwegian bachelor farmers, Dorothy and the Chatterbox Café, Wally in the Sidetrack Tap—as crowds converge on the little town to celebrate American independence, even as the chairman of the event broods on the great question of the day: Shall we struggle on valiantly here or shall we burst the bonds and find beautiful life in the golden west?
